Tip #2 Relax

If you’re relaxed, your Burner will relax. Prepare your questions so you can focus on what they are saying. This isn’t a state of the union speech. It’s just a conversation. Use the pause button. Show your Burner how to use it too. You probably can’t do much editing, but the app enables you to trim the beginning and end if you want.

Tip #3 Think about the beginning, and the end

Your initial questions can set the mood for the interview. Take a moment to talk with your Burner to see their mood and interests and what they might want to share with the world. Think about how you want to end. Ideally, these conversations will go deep. But just because they have depth, doesn’t mean they aren’t fun, funny and happy. Save some cheerful questions for the end. If someone is feeling depressed, you probably won’t be helping them any by broadcasting their depression online. Start light, go deep. Then end on a positive note.

Tip #4 – Go Pro and Prepare an Intro and Trailer

The Mobile Podcaster app has the ability to add a little intro clip to the beginning and the end. You can pre-record a little intro or some music to lead into your interview. Or you can grab sounds or music from the burn and turn them into your lead-in or trailer.

Tip #5 – Slow down -Speed kills

If you talk too fast, they’ll try to match your speed. If their mind don’t move that fast, their answers will be less thoughtful and less interesting. You’re probably not a morning DJ and they aren’t a well prepared guest.

Tip #6 Take their photo first, or have them send one they like.

This will allow you to discuss their selection if it’s interesting. It will also allow you to talk a little before the interview and get to know each other first.

Tip #7 Google – “Conversation skills or tips”

Podcasting has become very popular and there are literally thousands of free videos and podcasts offering tips for other podcasters.
